Fixed services involve the installation of a fixed base station that provides dialtone and operates similar to a standard landline telephone. These units can be installed at a home or business. Mobile and portable services operate similar to a cellular telephone. These units can be mounted in a vehicle with a car kit, or used as a hand-held unit for increased portability (i.e. horseback riding, hiking in isolated areas, etc.).
